Female Figure #11 - Adele Naidoo

Female Figure #11 - Adele Naidoo

Welcome everyone!

It's been a while since we've posted on the Female Figures blog, but I am thrilled to be back and ready to dive into more inspiring stories from successful female founders. Our blog not only explores the entrepreneurial journeys of these incredible women but also shines a spotlight on how they juggle motherhood and family life. How DO they do it all? Let's get into it...

Our next guest is a luminary in the Australian art scene, celebrated for her exquisite paintings of blooms with a style that is unmistakably her own, she has transformed the simple beauty of flowers into a profound artistic expression. You guessed it, our female figure no. 11 is none other than Adele Naidoo.

Adele's works have not only adorned countless homes but have also graced the pages of prestigious magazines like Home Beautiful, Adore Magazine, Real Living and also featured on the much loved TV series - The Block.

I first heard of Adele when she popped up on The Block in her early days, and have been a massive fan since! Not only is Adele incredibly talented as an artist, but she is also supportive, nurturing (she's also an educator) and has a great sense of humour offline! It is with great pleasure to share with you our 5 questions with Adele below 🤍

1. Tell us about yourself, and how did you come into business?

Adele: I am a Perth based Artist, mother of two and wife to my amazing husband and business partner.
Growing up in South Africa with a father as an Artist, creativity and nature surrounded me. I learnt to appreciate the beauty and colour that made up my childhood. my passion for art, design and interior styling, lead me to complete a Diploma in Interior Design while working as a Reggio Emilia Early Years Art Teacher. Early on in my art career I was represented by one of Australia’s premium homewares brand ‘Greenhouse Interiors’. In 2019 – 2021 I relocated to Shanghai, where a once in a lifetime opportunity presented itself as an Art Director and Art Teacher. This is when I became an independent artist and my signature floral compositions bloomed.

 2. How are you finding your Moodyboard, and has it helped you in any way?

Adele: I have actually been a long time follower on Instagram and obsessed with the Moodyboard range. When I opened the box my son immediately claimed it as his own, he uses it daily, he is very creative and every time he draws something he displays it on his Moodyboard proudly. It has become his little shrine, he uses the shelf to keep his most loved possessions. He also takes it around the house - where he and his younger brother use it to draw or play x n o’s or hangman. My youngest also loves playing with magnets on it. Couldn’t recommend it more for their creative and social play.

"He absolutely loves it , thank you for creating such meaningful things. Sometimes we forget how small objects mean big things to children"

3. There’s no such thing as a typical workday for business owners, but could you take us through a typical day in your life?

Adele: After we drop the boys of at school our work day begins, my husband and I try to balance family time with work so the mornings are dedicated to our family morning routine. During the day we either shoot & edit content, paint, answer emails, interact on socials, and all the business tasks in-between. We both pick our boys up from school – get them settled in their afternoon routine before we continue with work, before dinner, family time, homework and the boys sleep routine. We end the day with an episode of our fave tv series, and always have a daily debrief where we aim to focus on the business and future projects.

4. As a mum, what challenges do you face while running your business, and what do you do to overcome those challenges?

Adele: I feel like I am still learning to navigate this, as much as we try to balance family time, running a business is a full time job. Mum guilt hits hard especially on school holidays but my husband and I both set time during the day to spend with our boys. We either play a game of uno or Nintendo together after dinner.

"Fortune follows the brave.....You can never get better without fails so take them, learn from them, and always be okay to pivot."

5. When you look back at your journey, what are the key learnings you’ve learnt along the way? What advice would you give your younger self who was just starting out....?

Adele: In the beginning you have to be willing to sacrifice a lot – but there will be reward - Don’t give up, that seed was planted in your heart for a reason, also Fortune follows the brave was a quote I kept in my mind when I was too scared to put out an artwork into the world. you can never get better without fails so take them, learn from them, and always be okay to piv
